Annie George

Trained in theatre directing on Live and Direct, a joint initiative of Contact Theatre Manchester, Nitro and Tara Arts and Radio Drama Directing at the BBC in London. 
She has directed the script slam 'Flip the Script', a new writing initiative with Contact Theatre Manchester and was also Assistant Director on the Traverse Theatre Company touring production of
“I was a Beautiful Day” by Iain F MacLeod.

Annie was actor/producer for CAT. A. Productions for eight years.  Before the team’s
move into film production, the company toured politically inspired new theatre productions throughout Scotland and England during the 1990s, often using the prison setting and exploring contemporary social issues.  Annie has also performed in play/script readings, voiceover and radio for Stellar Quines Theatre Company, Traverse Theatre Company,
The Script Factory, BBC Radio 4, BBC World and she has appeared on television for Scottish Television and BBC Scotland

She has worked for numerous other arts organizations such as The Audience Business, Edinburgh Mela, Theatre Workshop, Scottish International Children’s Festival,

“Curry and Irn-Bru”, written by John Maley, was Annie’s first film as director.  It is part of the British Council Short Film selection and has had screenings at Festivals in the UK, Spain, Rotterdam, Durban South Africa, Pakistan and Suriname.

As an actor Annie appeared in the short film “Daddy’s Girl”, winner of numerous awards including the Prix Spécial de Jury for Short Film at Cannes Film Festival 2001.; She also co-produced the award winning short film “My Daughter’s Face”, winner of awards at Film Festivals in Palm Springs, Vendome in France and Pescara Italy.
